N. TENIGINA: "They Who'd Gone..."

"They Who'd Gone..."

(From Omar Khayyam)
They who’d gone from this life – never came back again,
Timeless secrets are saved by the timeless curtain;
One will fathom existence while toiling – not praying,
‘Cause a pray, void of faith, is a rite to complain.

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, February, 2003
