VADIM SHEFNER: The Choice Of the Wind

The Choice Of the Wind

Birds aren’t need of the wind that is fair:
Tho’ it tries to be helpful and right,
But for them it is difficult ever
To control their wings in this flight.

Let him sit in his swamp, void of reason,
Who’s still waiting for fair winds to hit –
Highest freedom of flight and precision
Are supplied by the contrary wind.

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, April, 2001
