JULIA NEIMAN: "What's For the World..."

"What's For the World..."

(From Isaac Borisov)
What’s for the world – let us be conscious –
Whether my life-time’s long or brief?
I’m so ‘heavy’ for his shoulders,
As, thrown by strong wind, a leaf.

But my life, by a blade of grasses,
Will grow, time will come, through soil,
Green in the noise of springy masses,
And fade in noise of a late fall.

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, May, 2001
