JULIA NEIMAN: The Day We've Lived For Nothing...

The Day We've Lived For Nothing...

(From Zulfia)
In skies, on earth and in the ocean’s middle –
Life’s everywhere. It’s rivulets make hum.
And with the actions, useful for the people,
We’re making better every flash of time.

But day we’ve lived without any goals –
In hit of night, it troubles us and gnaws.

Well, let it gnaw. We have all to bear:
There’s no life without any loss,
If there’s no darkness, light’s not valued here –
It is impossible to live, void pine and cross…

Only the emptiness is what the poets fear!

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, July, 2001
