NINA GORSKY: The Room

The Room

(From Juan Ramon Jimenez)
Things are calm in our house!
All is warmed by them and softened.
Their kind hands and hands of ours
meet each other very often.

They don’t stop our thinking action;
they are tender and attentive;
have not any dreams of passions,
but can dream with ours, native.

They love what we love forever;
always wait us with good patience,
always meet us with a favor,
with a shy smile, full of gladness.

Things, our sisters, friends and lovers!
From the days, gone into Lethe,
You return us the stars of ours,
We’d lost fallen in past so easy.

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, December, 2002
