Jane Engelter: WINTER WISH

Winter Wish

I'm waiting impatiently for snow,
It's taking so long this year.
I wish the ground covered with white
And the air to be crisp and clear.

I enjoy the crunch underfoot
That comes when new snow falls;
The childish giggle in my throat
When at war with packed snowballs.

I miss the fantastic beauty
Of a skiing slope at night;
Skiers in and out of shadows
As they pass each glowing light.

Now all we've had is cold and
Dreary days so far this season.
I think that cold and snowy
Would be, oh, so much more pleasin'.
