Vince Haney: TIME STOOD STILL

Time Stood Still

standing like a statue
on this cemetary hill
in a glow of ashen ivory
I am frozen unfulfilled

see, there's a heart forever breaking
a bag of bones ever-aching

time stood still
and I'm chasing ghosts again
all the will
in the world won't make it end

memories and starlight
fall like rain onto your skin
all this wonder that surrounds you
leaves me wondering where I've been

see, chances are, chances aren't taken
heart so heavy, hands are shaking

time stood still
and I'm chasing ghosts again
all the will
in the world won't make it end
time stood still
and I'm nowhere now and then
I never will
as long as I can just pretend

now there's nothing left between us
just the hush of winter moons
as the tears shed in your tower
crystalize amongst the ruins

see, there's a heart forever breaking
a bag of bones ever-aching

time stood still
and I'm chasing ghosts again
all the will
in the world won't make it end
time stood still
and I'm nowhere now and then
I never will
as long as I can just pretend
time stood still
and I'm chasing ghosts again
all the will
in the world won't make it end
time stood still
and I'm nowhere now and then
I never will
as long as I can just pretend
