Pedro de Carvalho: THE SEARCH

The Search

I went walking one sad rainy day
In search of whom I am not
I found anger, fear and despair
But not a trace of the figure I sought

Many miles did I walk through the streets
Passing over each river and wall
In too many bars did I rest
Away from the world, from it all

My quest was so hard and so lonely
I found only shelter in booze
Too long had I walked since that day
When I knew that one day I would loose

Till one day I arrived at the sea
There I stood with only one thought
"Not in Earth will I find what I seek,
Within me will I see who I´m not"
